What gives you a sense of pride?

Doesn't it feel good when you do something you've been meaning to!

It doesn't have to be a big thing either. It might be something as simple as tidying up your desk, making a call to someone you've had on your mind for a while or starting an exercise habit.

It's easy to find, and aren't we constantly reminded of them, things going wrong in the world. At the same time there is a whole lot going right, being done well and making people feel proud of what they have done.

That sense of pride will permeate everything you do. Do the small things first. That will give you energy to do other things too - and most of them are small things!

PRIDE can be used as an acronym -

Personal
Responsibility
In
Delivering
Excellence.

As well as delivering excellence "Doing the right thing" can be a good approach to ensuring you do the things that matter.  Invariably the things that matter will also be things that give you a sense of pride.

We can take pride in being part of something bigger too. As a New Zealander I'm constantly amazed at how our sports people "punch above our weight" around the world. For a nation of circa 5 million we are incredibly well represented at the top level of international sport.

The short clip below is a reminder of some of those who have represented us on the global stage and made us all feel a sense of pride. Even if you hail from somewhere other than NZ I'm sure you'll enjoy a trip down memory lane.

It is probably fair to say that to get there all of those athletes did small things every day in preparation that gave them a regular and sustained sense of pride along the way.

What is one thing you can do today to give you a sense of pride?

And tomorrow?

Go on.

"Just do it"

Cheers
